F.A.Q

Where is Villa Rosa?

Villa Rosa is short walk from Montemelino, a charming little village 6 kilometres from Magione and 15 kilometres from the centre of Perugia. We are 145 ks from Florence and 185 ks from Rome, Assisi 38ks, Todi 55ks.

How far is the nearest train station?

We are 6 ks from the train station in Magione and 10ks from Perugia station.

Do you need a car to stay at Villa Rosa?

While the nearest train station is only 6 ks from us and we can provide a taxi service from the station to us, you really do need wheels to explore the hill towns of Umbria and Tuscany.

Can you recommend a car hire service?

There is an Avis office at Perugia airport. Avis, Hertz and Europcar all have agencies at Perugia train station. If you are arriving at Magione station, contact MR Autonoleggi di Marco Rossini Via Q. Martiliani, 48 - Magione (PG) - Mobile: +39 340 75 07 545 - Phone: +39 075 84 72 793 Car hire is best organised well before you leave home.

How far is the nearest airport?

We are 20 ks from Perugia airport – called Sant'Egidio airport. Ryanair flies from from Stansted airport several times per week. Fiumicino airport in Rome is 216 ks.

Are there any supermarkets/shops nearby?

The nearest grocery store is in Castelvieto which is a very short drive down the hill. There are several larger supermarkets in and around Magione.

What's in the village of Montemelino?

Montemelino is a little hamlet a short walk from Villa Rosa. There is a lovely little church there which is also a sanctuary related to Lourdes. There is Mass every afternoon during the week and on Sunday morning at 11am. Next door to the church is a delightful, reasonably-priced restaurant.

My child can't swim....

The pool is not fenced and it is not supervised. We ask parents to be vigilant. We provide arm bands, pool rings to aid safe play in the pool. The littlies can also be popped in the playpen by the pool when parents want a bit of p&q.

I see the pool is salt water – how does that work?

Our swimming pool is disinfected with salt-produced chlorine. So there are no chemicals – much kinder on your skin (and swimming costumes) than chlorine.

Is there parking?

Yes. All guests can park inside the large fenced garden which surrounds Villa Rosa.

Is there airconditioning?

La Casetta cottage has airconditioning. We do have to charge a bit extra if you require airconditioning. Il Gelsomino apartment has very thick walls (over 1 metre!) so it stays naturally cool even on the hottest summer days. Le Rose does not have airconditioning but we can provide fans.

Can you give me an idea of your prices?

Tarriffs vary according to the season and number of guests. To give you a rough idea, here are some of our WEEKLY rates. Le Rose from 450 euros per week, Il Gelsomino from 500 euros per week amd La Casetta from € 700,00.

Is there a minimum stay at Villa Rosa?

Yes, the minimum stay is two nights.

Are there white roads to get to Villa Rosa?

No. All the roads to get to us are asphalted and modern.

Does your accommodation have wheelchair access?

Il Gelsomino apartment, while not set up totally with wheelchair access in mind, works particularly well for guests in wheelchairs.

Do you provide hairdryers?

Yes – every bathroom has a hairdryer.

I see Villa Rosa is very child friendly. Do you offer a baby sitting service?

Yes – with a little notice, a baby sitter can be arranged.

Are there any good restaurants close to Villa Rosa?

Yes. In addition to the charming "La Fattoria di Montemelino" which is a short walk from Villa Rosa, there is "Al Battibecco" a few minutes drive down the hill. It has great food and lots of atmosphere. Also good is the little "La Pappagloria" 6 kilometres from Villa Rosa in Magione. If you are in Perugia for the day, we highly recommend "Il Gufo" restaurant in Via della Viola. For a special occasion, "L'Osteria dell'Olmo" is lovely and only a few ks from Villa Rosa. These are some of the best in the immediate vicinity of Villa Rosa.

We can provide more recommendations for day trips further afield. And no doubt you'll be able to tell us about some good restaurants you find yourselves!
